thank you for digging up all this information. i agree with you, but have a question: is there is a for-profit organization out there that you would actually approve of? i mean one thats cause is superb and very helpful, even though its a for-profit org?

why it is a bad idea to route your charitable donations through For-Profit entities.

First of all, there is nothing wrong in being a for-profit entity.
However, if you want to donate to a cause, you would want every penny of your donation to go to the cause that you are trying to support. Why would I want to channel my donations through an entity that keeps a slice of it for its own good?
Look for charities that have Zero (0) or very minimal administrative costs. Channeling your donations directly to the organizations that you are trying to support makes every penny of your dollar put to good use -not just some of it.
In today’s Internet-based interconnected communities, there is no need to route one's donations through middle-men or intermediaries (entities) that take a cut out of your donations. Just a thought...
