Change through Volunteering and Donating

I continue to oppose the occupation of Iraq. It is difficult to dismiss the amount of people that are suffering and dying because of it: American soldiers and Iraqi people. Also it is hard to deny the impact this war is having domestically.

The Federal response to Hurricane Katrina survivors called attention to the cost of war and improper allocation of federal funds. It is clear that fixing this situation extends beyond the government reach into the private sector. We are beckoned by the state of our domestic and foreign policy to create our own solutions.

I encourage you to donate both your time and money to worthy non-profit organizations that are actively working for this Nations greater good. Whether you choose to volunteer and/or donate locally or globally your contributions matter make changes to the status quo.

Create the change you want to see happen!

Yes, changes that we all seek -whether in our local communities, or on a global scale -can only be brought about through active and responsible participation.

Afterall, democracy is not a spectator sport. If I am not mistaken, it was Mahatma Gandhi who had said something like: We need to be the change we seek... or something along those lines.

Thank you for posting your above thoughtful remarks, Baudelia.
