well, im only sixteen, and i dont know every detail of this war and such, but i do know its wrong and 'we' are in it for basically no reason. i believe i am one of the only kidds my age that i have met that are a pacifist, like me. many kidds dont even know what that is//means. ive take up an interest in knowing more about the war and president bush and everything related to, because i do believe "ignorance is bliss", but there are just some issues people should know about. no matter what age you are. even before i was aware of any details of this war, and bush, or anything, i was against the war. any war. any fighting. anything anti-peace. now as im learning more about it, im just gaining more reason and justification for standing up for such a fabulous cause.

like i said, ive only just begun to scratch the surface of the war in iraq, president bush issues, and similar such items, but what i have learned and discovered has been disturbing.

a few months ago, when i had thought i wanted to know about these things, i asked "why do so many people not like george bush?"

i was told that president bush got us into this war by lying about weapons in the middle east. and that 9/11 was an excuse, no an opportunity, to go to war that president bush took full advantage of.

i am also aware that he stole the election(s) but do not know the full story on that. if any of you have the time and are willing, can you please help me out here? spread your information to the youth by just telling me more about everything.

all of your blogs and stuff that im coming across are really helping too. thank you.

Glad to have you onboard at NoWar.Org.

It is always helpful to learn about the ongoing. After all, the world is what we all help make it to be.

Most wars -i.e. State sponsored acts of mass-killings -result when diplomacy declares bankruptcy, or when we have leaders that are incapable of intelligently participating in and articulating a diplomatic dialog. The fact is, even though we try to desensitize ourselves by calling the people we kill as "collateral damages" or "casualties of war", these are humans -humans with loving families, children -that get killed. IRAQ has about 25 million people. About 700,000 (the last published count) have been killed. If each of those killed had 5 relatives, you got about 3.5 millions grieving. The last estimates indicate about 2.5 million people with resources (money/skills, and able bodied folks, etc) have left that country. That adds up to about 6 million displaced -refuges not included. That is about 25% of that country's population that has been either killed, grieving, uprooted, or displaced.

How does an elective war -a war that was not forced upon us -that inflicts such painful losses on the people of a country that never laid a finger on us can lead to goodwill for us Americans around the world?

Knowledge is power. When we all demand that our elected officials make informed and responsible choices, we help make things better for all of us. Ignorance may be a convenient bliss -for the time being -but it can have painful consequences in the long run.

It is important, therefore, to get involved, and help shape the world the way it ought to be -albeit responsibly. Sitting on the sidelines and complaining about what others are inflicting upon us is usually meaningless, and results in no improvements. Democracy is not a passive sport.

I commend you for getting involved, and for being interested in seeking the truth. It is wonderful that you are getting involved. Help make a difference -responsibly.
